Achieving Light in the Dark

Facing an 800 square-foot apartment in Tuscany, I encountered a unique challenge. Specifically, the natural lighting was minimal. Moreover, its three windows overlooked a street-level parking lot. Therefore, keeping the curtains open wasn’t always an option.

Tackling the Lighting Issue

Given this limitation, a solution was necessary. Hence, we incorporated directional lights throughout the space. In addition, we opted for light colors to offset the dim ambiance. Notably, these choices aimed to maximize the available illumination.

Understanding the Client

Our client had precise requirements. Firstly, he seldom spends time at home. However, when he does, reading consumes most of his hours. Consequently, he yearned for comfort and coziness. Yet, he didn’t want to compromise on elegance.

Blending Styles

Taking this into account, we forged a harmonious blend. Specifically, we merged contemporary elements with modern farm-style furnishings. Furthermore, we ensured the floor’s color and texture complemented the chosen rugs and furniture. As a result, there was a coordinated, clash-free environment.

Interestingly, some of the furniture and accessories belonged to the client. Thus, integrating these items seamlessly was pivotal. By doing so, we preserved a sense of familiarity in the fresh design.

The Surprise Factor

The project spanned roughly 35 days. Remarkably, the client approved our design wholly. This approval was significant. Mainly, because the entire project was a surprise. The client, preparing for retirement, hadn’t seen or approved any aspect until delivery.

Conclusion

This endeavor truly tested our capabilities. However, the ultimate reward was the client’s happiness. Now, she’s eager to continue with more home renovations. Undoubtedly, projects like these fuel our passion, propelling us to create spaces that resonate with joy.
